Summer holidays are here!

Summer is here!

The summer has finally arrived. We worked hard throughout the whole school year so it is time now to unwind, sunbathe and enjoy free time. All of us, both students and teacher alike, deserve to relax and rest.

Unfortunately, we on 29th June we bid farewell to our foreign Comenius trainee Zoltan Arga who finished cooperation with our school. We got used to his presence in our school and we are going to miss him.
Mr. Arga conducted conversation classes in English, taught photo classes as well as held regular textbook-based classes with students from our school. He provided great assistance in sharing language experiences with our students and making them more aware of cultural differences as well as more sensitive to the need of studying English language.
We would like to thank him from the bottoms of our hearts. All the best and hope to see you sometime in future in our school again.
Regarding holidays... No matter if we are going to spend them at the seaside, in the mountains or by the lake, we should remember to stay safe. Well, enjoy your summer holidays and see you back in school on
1st September 2012.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Irish Competition

More than 25 students from various secondary schools in Toruń participated in final round of the Irish Competition organized by the International House and Irish Chamber of Commerce.

Our two students, Monika Byblewska (1C) and Marta

Umińska (1B) also qualified to the final round of the

Competition.

The competition took place on 16th June in Dwór

Mieszczański in Toruń and it comprised knowledge of the

Irish culture, history, literature and geography. The

competition was conducted entirely in English by native

speakers of English from Ireland.

Two weeks of studying English in Dublin was the

main prize in the competition.  The prizes were sponsored by

International House in Dublin and the Irish Chamber

of  Commerce. Apart from that, our local branch of

International House in Toruń sponsored books and a

course of English

Monika Byblewska, our contestant, put up a good fight

and scored 21 points, what unfortunately  was not enough to

win the main prize. However, Monika was rewarded

with books and a certificate of

participation. Regrettably, our second participant,

Monika Umińska, could not take part in the competition due

to personal reasons.

We would like to express our warm gratitude to the organizers and guests from Ireland for the opportunity of participattion in such an interesting event.

Congratulations to all winners!

Irish bonds

On 12th June our students had an opportunity to meet

football fans from Ireland who came to Poland to

support their national team in the Euro 2012

championship.

The guests presented their country, sang their national anthem and shared their views of the world.

During the meeting we discussed the issue of Euro 2012 and the odds for Irish and Polish football teams in the forthcoming matches.

The students enjoyed the event and broadened their horizons. The meeting enabled them to learn about Irish culture and listen to native English speakers.

THANK YOU!

And the winners are…… “My place on Earth” Competition
